Upon learning of her family curse, thirteen year old Vee runs away to live in the mountains where the veil is the thinnest to live closer to the magic. Sixteen years later the brother she left behind, Callum, attempts writing her a letter while juggling his mundane responsibilities and resisting his belief in the same family curse. Jumping between time periods, genres and styles, this arthouse fantasy plays out like a narrative poem, with as much interest in gesture, rhythm, texture and tone as with narrative conventions.
Shot on a shoestring budget over three years, with a crew never exceeding five people, the film was photographed on a variety of stressed and expired films stocks - from Super8 to 35mm. Overseeing the complete process, Emett Casey wrote, produced, directed, shot, mixed, edited, and mastered the film. In addition he created wardrobe, puppets and creature, and even processed and scanned the film stock himself while working at a film lab. This culminates in a unique and singular vision unlike most other films out there today.
